CW Seed

CW SEED is an OK app sitting in front of a great offering and content. New iPad and latest version of iOS and the app runs great and streams fine as long as you don’t pause it (unpausing sometimes doesn’t work and sometimes starts streaming erratically) and as long as you don’t switch to another app or have your device go dark/sleep (returning to the app, the video never shows and you get audio and a black screen). Find myself having to restart the app in each of those case, then go search for my episode, in order to get back to watching. Will keep it and keep using it because of the outstanding content. One final interface design gripe: the app forces you to read and search in portrait mode. Since you have to watch videos in landscape, you have to keep turning the device over between these functions. Hopefully CW can iron out the glitches and enable auto-rotate...but at least the glitches...soon.

This app is pretty good for watching shows that can be found on the tv channels, but there’s a few glitches that bother me. The ads are fine in my opinion, I mean like how else they gonna keep the app free, right? But these glitches make it so I can’t even watch what I want to. I was in the middle of watching, and the ads come on, like they always do, and I paused it for a minute to go do something, I come back and my iPad screen had turned off, so I turned it back on and when I tried to unpause it, it unpaused for like 2 seconds, then the ads stopped playing and the screen went black. I could tap the screen and the buttons would come up, play/pause, done etc, but when I tried to make it play it wouldn’t. I tried countless times, restarting the app, waiting some, resetting where I was, rewatching the episode until that set of ads, nothing has worked. Every time I got to that particular set of ads, the app just seemed to stop working completely, and crash. Another one is sometimes, if I pause or go out of the app during the ads, when I come back the play button doesn’t work, however, just restarting the app fixes this one. If this is fixed, or I find a fix for this issue, I’ll edit this. However for now staying with 3 stars at the moment.

Alright, I was a big fan of this app a few months ago. I used it a lot and loved that I could watch great shows for free. But with this most recent update, I can no longer watch ANYTHING as the shows will not load. When I go to watch something it displays a loading screen for about 30 seconds and then an alert pops up that the “playback has stalled out”. I’ve tried every single show, multiple times and it happens every single time, rendering this app completely useless. No, there is no problem with my network connection. It’s the app. I’m not complaining about the design or anything. I’m asking simply that you please make this app actually do the simple task it claims to do. Hope to see it fixed soon so I can go back to enjoying your great shows.

What in the fresh h e double hockey sticks did you guys do to this app? The new design is atrocious and doesn’t even work! The look is simplistic, not streamlined, and looks far worse and less professional than the former design. It doesn’t work in landscape mode, at least not while you’re in the menu stage, which is a baffling choice. Choosing seasons is not intuitive. There’s no air dates next to the episodes which is frustrating when you’re trying to figure out where you left off or which is a brand new episode. BEST OF ALL THE APP RESET EVERY FRICKING EPISODE SO THAT YOU CAN’T RESUME EPISODES IF YOU STARTED THEM ON THE OTHER VERSION OR KNOW WHICH EPISODES YOU ALREADY WATCHED. Oh joy! I TRIED to watch an episode and it crashed at the first commercial break and now it crashes every time I reopen the app and try to resume. Awesome work on this app you guys. Get it together CW and please just chalk this up to a bad design and revert back to the perfectly functional and aesthetically pleasing old design.

Can’t complain because I get my favorite shows which are current for free! Even the ones I missed in the past I get to watch for free! There may be a glitch sometimes but all I do is go out the app and get back on my show. I can’t wait until I can get the app on my Samsung smart tv. Been trying to cast it but no luck so I’ve been watching the app on my laptop and iPhone. I can cast the show to my Vizio smart tv but it’s in my living room and I let my kids watch their shows on there. But as I say the app for me is great! There may be a glitch or two but nothing you can’t work around.
