Store Performance Index shows overall performance of your app on app stores. It is based on combined ASO & reviews metrics.
User reviews affect conversion to installs and app rating. Featured and helpful reviews are the first to be noticed by users and in case of no response can affect download rate. This is why it is highly recommended to reply to them.
I’ve downloaded my issues to this app many times. My subscription is good through July 20th. I just got a notification that a new issue was available to read via the Apple push notification. I opened the app and it acts like it never heard of me before. I check that I’m signed in. Yep. I re-enter my subscriber number and last name and it lets me enter a password. I log off and log back in successfully. I still can’t find any of the issues that I’ve downloaded, and all of the issues listed, including the print editions I’ve got right next to me, aren’t accessible. Guess I’ll just wait for my next issue to arrive in the mail. What a waste of their development efforts and a major irritant to their customers.
One thing I find quirky and non-standard is that Cruising World can only be read in the vertical orientation. I subscribe to quite a few digital publications, and this is the only one that does not permit the reader to view it either horizontally or vertically. I prefer the former because I can see more of the layout and then simply zoom in on anything that interests me. This publication, however, can only be viewed one page at a time, and I find this limitation quite annoying. Caveat: I read the free, sample version so it's possible that the paid version does not contain this limitation. There is a horizontal view example in the "iPad screenshots" sample above. If the paid version offers a choice of orientations, I'd say the digital version of Cruising World is no better or worse than other digital publications.
It's quite silly when an app whose purpose is to replace a print magazine has no way to bookmark articles or even save the current location. When I quit the app and come back to it, or switch magazine issues, it deposits me back at the front page, and then I have to go try and find where I left off reading last time... There's this tantalizing button that shows a "list" that I can "edit", and looks like it should be for bookmarks, but there is no way to add to the list, making it pointless...
Have been a loyal customer for years of the print edition but this app is not good at all. The most annoying glitch is that you can not read your editions when not connected to the internet ( such as when at the berry islands in your boat) or on the plane. Now my app has frozen up completely and my annual subscription is running... Will you send me my money back? Ever heard of customer care? Hurry or you will loose your best customers!!!
I just finished reading the print edition and decided to look at the iPad version. I only looked at the trial version and the articles and photos were the same as the "real" magazine. One reviewer complained about the ads but he he/she read the free sample, it's not hard to understand why the producers want to encourage people to buy the full version. Plus, has the reviewer read the print version? They don't see advertising there???!!
