I’ve listen to CPR classical in the background almost every work day for the last several years. While I am glad that they are expanding and strengthening their signal, it seems to be at the expense of quality of their app. For the last several weeks, their music stream cuts in and out. This can be for several minutes or permanently to where I have to close and reopen the app. Sometimes it even repeats a few seconds of music when it finally resumes. It’s very disruptive and annoying enough that I’m starting to switch to NYC or LA’s public radio classical apps.
This app works fine for streaming KCFR, but its user interface wastes most of the screen space. The volume slider doesn’t work. And most annoying, it runs as a full screen app which means it suppresses the status bar at the top of the screen — in particular the time and date is hidden. Adding insult to injury, there is so little actual content on the screen that this is completely unnecessary. This is an easy thing to fix, so please release a new version that at least fixes this one issue.
I turn it on the first thing in the morning, listen for maybe 15 minutes, then it cuts out....just goes away. It then doesn’t come back unless I restart my phone but this is pointless as the app just repeats what it did beforehand. So, am stuck listening to 850 AM....sad that the app is so crummy now.....
I love CPR/NPR and have subscribed for years. The only way I can listen is via app on my iPhone w a Bluetooth speaker. For the last couple of months I can’t get a steady stream anymore. It was fine, good (perfect even!) for years before this, what happened CPR?? It cuts in and out and repeats short loops that I just heard. Please fix this before I give up trying, can’t take it much longer.
While the content is great, streaming using any of the available means outside of traditional AM/FM transmission is horrible. Regular delays and pauses in service make listening drudgery...it is rare to get through an entire story without an interruption. I know that listener contributions have enabled the CPR team to increase access but fear that a focus on streaming has been largely neglected.
