I have been using the app for about 2 weeks now. From their description you can see the good. So I’ll speak more about the things I miss from Remind. #1, if you get a parent message you see their name but there’s no way to click on their name to see whose parent they are. (I guess a fix we could do would be to edit their name to say their kid’s name too). #2 the app send you notification when you get a message, but that’s all. There is no preview. With remind the notification included a preview. #3. If parents provide (or you add) their email) The default contact mode that they receive messages through is email, not text. There’s now way for teachers to choose. Only app savvy parents can change the setting. #3 it is harder to add files from a phone. With remind I could easily attach a photo, doc, voice message, etc. To a message. The good: options for asking for volunteers, to sign up for things and to add a calendar. Automatic weekly summaries, etc.

I’ve been using the app for a couple of weeks and it’s pretty user friendly. I am not tech savvy, so that’s saying a lot. My wishes for making it better: 1) when you first add parents you can add an email, but not the parents names. You have to go back in and click edit to add names, which is weird. 2) there is no way to calendar recurring events. I have to enter each time my kids have PE, which is every Friday. Would be nice to enter the event and set all the upcoming dates at once, then let the app send the reminders. 3) my photo wouldn’t load correctly. It loaded sideways even after I tried editing the photo by flipping the original photo around. Would be great to have an edit option on photos directly on the app. Otherwise, I’m getting good feedback from parents that the app is good.

I’m looking for an app that I can set reoccurring events. For example, being able to set a message every Sunday that Gym will be on Monday and students need to wear tennis shoes, setting a message every Tuesday that Library will be on Wednesday and students need to remember to return their library book. I do not like receiving messages via email, I often miss important messages because they’re lost in my emails. This is very frustrating! I would rather be able to receive messages via the app and have everything in one place. I want to be able to set a time to send messages to one person. The app lets you set a time to send messages to the group, but it does not let you set a time to send messages to one person. For example, I would like to be able to set a time to send a message reminding parents when their child’s snack day is. I would like to be able to do this all at the beginning of the month, but schedule it to go out a few days prior to their child’s snack day.

SEE UPDATE AND RESPONSE TO DEVELOPER AT THE END OF REVIEW. Developer I get it, you have to pay for the work you do, I really do understand...but the placement of ads is right smack dab in the middle of the page among the “real” classroom information. It is not only confusing and busy, it’s misleading since some of the ads basically says... this company or that company donated to the school ie HP donates to XYZ school (and other brands), which is misleading and dishonest. The advertisements take up about 20% of the entire page and when centered on the screen is at a minimum of 75% of the screen real estate. My wife who is a director and the one deciding to use this product and bring it into the organization has decided to pass on this application as a result of the negatives mentioned above. UPDATE: sadly the developer believes I had no say so in the use of this product and responded directly to me as if I was a parent of a child who’s classroom is already using it and basically gave an “oh well” type of response. As a company you have the option of listening to potential and current customers and improving, or not...it is entirely up to you! On a mobile application, screen real estate is a premium, gobbling 20 to 30% of that with confusing, misplaced and unrelated advertising kills the usefulness of the app. In this case the juice is simply not worth the squeeze.

I am truly loving they app. It is just what I had been looking for! I am a 5th grade teacher and had been on the hunt for a website or app that would enable me to communicate quickly with parents. I wanted to be able to not only send announcements, but also post photos quickly and communicate with parents individually or small groups. But, most of all, I wanted something that would alert the parents when I posted something new. And ClassTag does just that! I also love the ability to pin something to the top of the feed and I love the look of the feed. The only thing I wish it had was the ability for parents to comment on postings. BUT that feature is coming and I could not be more excited. Thank you for developing this awesome app!
