See more dataThe Choiceworks app is an essential learning tool for helping children complete daily routines (morning, day, & night), understand & control their feelings and improve their waiting skills (taking turns and not interrupting). Created with the support of leading hospitals and child development specialists, this app is designed for caregivers to provide clear and consistent support to foster a child’s independence, positive behavior, and emotional regulation at home and in the community. It can also be customized for teachers in a school setting. Key Features ■ Four boards: Schedule, Waiting, Feelings and Feelings Scale ■ Image Library preloaded with over 180 images and audio ■ Add your own images and record your own audio for limitless customizability ■ Attach video to any board image ■ Easily create profiles to personalize and manage multiple users ■ Save an unlimited number of boards for multiple children or different routines ■ Speaks boards out loud with child or adult voice ■ Time saving essentials like search and auto-save ■ Share boards by Email, Files app or iTunes with other Choiceworks app users ■ Ability to print boards or save as PDF Schedule Board The Schedule Board focuses on making task completion easier and more fun, allowing the user to select tasks that can be easily reordered. The schedule is then paired with an all done column to check off steps toward a motivating reward. As the task image slides to the all done column, the user gets both visual and audio confirmation. Schedules can be enhanced by adding a timer. The schedules are easy to edit and fully customizable. Once you have created a schedule, it will be saved automatically. Waiting Board The Waiting Board is a great way to teach waiting skills like taking turns and/or not interrupting. The user can begin by reading the companion book, When Do I Have to Wait?, in order to explain to the child the reason why everyone has to wait on occasion. Using the waiting board, the top picture can be selected to indicate the reason why the child will be waiting and a timer can be set to show how long the child will be waiting. Next, both the user and the child can select an activity for the child to do while waiting. Feelings Board The Feelings Board provides a tool for helping children understand and express emotions. The user can begin by reading the companion book, When I Get Upset, to provide an example of how the child might recognize an emotion and choose a coping strategy. On the Feelings Board, the user can then help the child indicate how they are feeling from a range of options, select a coping strategy, and then request an activity which would likely help them feel better or re-engage with others. Feelings Scale Allows users to identify, manage and cope with feelings across environments throughout the day. Labeling emotions makes them easier to deal with and by putting feelings into words, we have more power over them. By tracking their feelings on the board, users can analyze the data for trends to learn if tasks done at different times of day or in different environments affect outcome. Environments and schedules can then be altered to achieve better results. Profiles When using profiles, the app automatically organizes boards by child and encourages independence by removing the distraction of other children's boards. Image Library The app comes preloaded with over 180 of Bee Visual’s most commonly used images, each with pre-recorded audio. You can access the images quickly using the search feature or simply by scrolling through the images. Users can add to the library by selecting an image from their camera roll or by taking a photo. The user can then add a caption and record audio or video. The images can be categorized as a Schedule Board Title, a Task or an Activity, a Waiting Board Skill or Activity, and/or a Feeling, Coping Strategy or Activity on the Feelings Board/Feelings Scale.
User reviews affect conversion to installs and app rating. Featured and helpful reviews are the first to be noticed by users and in case of no response can affect download rate. This is why it is highly recommended to reply to them.
My son has moderate autism. I homeschool him because I don't feel he would thrive in a classroom. We do a lot of life lessons. I have his school day broken into lessons. Each lesson has a few activities, most have photographs I have taken of the actual materials we use and I record my voice to tell him what we are doing. You could even add videos if you use it for things like brushing teeth. He gets a verbal "All Done" and a check mark when he completes each task. It is so easy to customize if we change the tasks from day to day. It is engaging and I don't have to write out a schedule anymore! I love this app!!!
This app is amazing for my son who has autism. It’s also really fun to use and he spent a lot of time watching the demonstration videos and listening to the words and it’s helped him tremendously with speech and doing the actions. The timer helps him with waiting, and having a schedule makes his day run better. The customer service is also incredible. I sent an email with an issue (a non issue, I had made a mistake) and Michelle responded almost immediately, and then responded again to make sure I had everything I needed to fix things. She was incredibly helpful and kind. Would absolutely recommend.
This app has positively changed the quality of our family time management during school days. We mostly use the schedule boards. The kids each have their own iPad with the app (although there is a feature to have multiple profiles, the timer feature does not work when switching between profiles). They retrieve it in the morning and begin completing their tasks. They are significantly more independent in transitioning from task to task than when they did not have this app. It's a huge relief. I'm actually setting up schedule boards for myself!
Thank you so much for creating this wonderful application. As a speech therapist we constantly spend countless hours generating individualized visual schedules for our patients and families. The ability to create one so quickly and work so well is beyond me! I’m definitely recommending this application to every therapist and parent I know.
I was looking for a visual schedule that my kids could wreck and that I could easily remember to reset. THIS IS IT! I love how easy this app is to use and how easy it is to take with. I’ve been using it on my phone and we’ve even created schedules on the go. It’s been a game changer for us. Less melt downs and more consistency. WIN!
