I'm an 18 year old girl who has been suffering from anxiety and depression for a number of years now. I have began to suffer from crippling panic attacks that would take over my mind and body. Because I'm in college and away from my regular support system of people, my therapist suggested I look into apps like this one, and he was so right. I 100% recommend this app. If you read the description and you think that the tools are too childish, then I would have to argue that you've really experienced a panic attack. Simple yet distracting techniques are what brings your mind away from dark places, and this app is most definitely keeping that in mind. If you're questioning the price, then I would base it off of how beneficial do you think having something like this to comfort you would be. It's easy, accessible, no ads, and a simple escape from a dangerous place. Only have great things to say about this.
Writing this review after having a major panic attack, but thankfully got through it with this app 🙌🏼 I suffer from panic disorder, and they totally effect my life, I’ve tried just about everything-meditation isn’t my thing at all, I end up making the panic attack even worse, so finding this gem of an app was a life changer, it helps distract yourself from your panic, and helps you to fight through it, and gets you out of your head. Don’t hesitate, get this app and get through your anxiety!
Calmkeeper sells itself as being an effective tool to use during a panic attack. I know this is an individual experience, but since I've started utilizing this app 3 weeks ago, I have used it successfully instead of a klonopin EVERYTIME. You have to read the tutorials and get comfortable with it. I also think having ongoing treatment such as psychiatry and therapy from QMHPs also has a hand in how successful this app is for an individual. $5US? Ppppfffffffff that's how much a single pill of klonopin costs without insurance. It's probably taken the place of $50 worth of prescriptions so far for me. If you're willing to work the app, my guess is that it would work for you.
This app is wonderful. The creators are truly good people to design an app like this and offer it for free. It's the only app I found that is intended for use DURING a panic attack. It provides the perfect type of distraction for me and really helps me get through the attack (or at least until the Ativan kicks in). Again, thank you so much to the app creators. It's such a simple idea but means so much to someone like me. The calming design (especially the breathing orb) is also very nice.
As I may not use the app when feeling anxious, just knowing I have something on my phone that can help is enough security for me to feel okay. I've played the matching and word games and I feel very calm with them. They are simple and not pressuring. I've also just used the breathing exercise to cure the hiccups. Even though I may not use it much, it's truly the knowing that I have a guaranteed calming method.
