User reviews affect conversion to installs and app rating. Featured and helpful reviews are the first to be noticed by users and in case of no response can affect download rate. This is why it is highly recommended to reply to them.
I've been so busy I really didn't pay attention to MSQC digital magazine. I want to make four Christmas quilts for my children by, gulp, this Christmas. Jenny's tutorials now have colored in hearts to let me know which patterns I am making for each son or daughter. Then I noticed the block app on my iPad and beginning with 1-1 I have been spending my Mother's Day evening doing what I love best... reading quilt magazines. I have all of them but this will make it easier to study the quilt blocks and see different color ways. Well worth the price of printed copy, the digital is an added bonus. A great companion to all of the Missouri Star family of quilting support. Thanks!
I was so excited to get this, but the first time I opened it I tried to find my issues. What? No list of what I own? I can't filter the interminable list of all issues available to see just what I own? I've got to look at icons? Really? Okay, I found one and started reading. Very nice. The magazine looks beautiful. I see a link to the instructions for a table runner. Only wait, it's not an active link, it's just text. I can't click it, I can't even copy/paste it. I have to retype in Safari to get there. Finally, after several tries, because it's not extremely short, I type it in and get sent to YOURLS - your own URL shortener site and they want me to log in. I've still not found the tute. Yikes. Yes, the magazine looks good and I can read it, but the active experience needs some serious work. I don't think it's setting the bar too high to expect the links to actually work. I don't want to have to get a userid/pwd to follow them. I would also like to insert bookmarks. These are pretty basic ereader features.
I have all the “Block” magazines but I can never find the pattern that I bought the fabric for. It takes hours to look through the Block mag. Now if I know about when I bought the fabric it is quicker to locate the pattern. Also I look back on my order history to get a date ... plus I can print out a copy and write notes on it without messing up my magazine. The flat pages are easier follow as the “Block” tries to close. Thanks for a great app. Note: be sure to sign in or the pages won’t open!
I’ve wanted my Block magazine to be portable and find that this app fits the bill perfectly. Easy to identify your purchased copies and the pages shown at the bottom help to jump to wherever you want. Suggestion: figure out a way to allow me to make notes on each pattern- like a note page at the end of each pattern. That way I can keep track of any modifications I’ve made. Please make this capable on an iPad and not just for a computer. A note page at the end of each magazine would also be helpful for identifying what I’ve done or want to do in each magazine, etc.
Block is delightful no matter what form you purchase. The hard copy is like a soft cover book than a magazine, and Jenny's anecdotes make you feel like you just received a loving family newletter! I love also having Block in the electronic format, because I can always have access to all my Block mag issues wherever I go, whenever I get a chance to read through them. Thanks for all your quilting encouragement and idea sparking, Jenny! You're just some kind of wonderful!!
