See more dataThis app has been designed to help Albertans find the right care at the right time. The app now shows nearest Emergency Departments and Urgent Care Centres based on your current location alongside information from AHS about important topics. Wait Times for EDs and UCCs are listed for cities and facilities that currently provide them. Important contact numbers and sites, like Health Link, are available on their own page. The Health Care Locator has been rebuilt to return more accurate results when you search for facilities, programs, and services. These can now be bookmarked so you can find them quickly.
User reviews affect conversion to installs and app rating. Featured and helpful reviews are the first to be noticed by users and in case of no response can affect download rate. This is why it is highly recommended to reply to them.
I like to see governmental organizations utilizing such technologies
The old app felt like iOS 5 and hadn’t been updated. I have no idea how this version was ever approved. It doesn’t fill the screen of my device correctly. You can swipe back through every screen. The tab bar doesn’t work correctly. AHS should have continually updated what they had instead of rewriting it so that it’s worse than a web page.
AHS needs to do some public education to let people know that while it may display a lower time to get in and be seen by a triage nurse that means not much when you take into consideration how many patients may already be waiting to get into the department after being triaged. As an emergency department worker I'm tired of seeing people come in to our hospital, get triaged quickly with sometimes very mild issues compared to other patients, then be upset and angry at the healthcare workers when they have to wait to get into the department longer than expected because we are busy with acutely critical patients. Take the wait times you see with a grain of salt and be prepared to wait even if it's reporting a supposedly low time. Don't forget about the availability of walk in clinics if your problem is not acutely needing attention, many times you can be in and out quicker if you had gone to a medicenter vs an emergency department.
Very useful app. If you live in Calgary. I have deleted it and will wait till it is available for Edmonton (the capital of Alberta).
Seriously, step this up.
